Aranda Primary School boundary fence
Construction of the boundary fence at Aranda Primary School is now complete. This is a fantastic outcome and will help keep students safe and deter vandalism.
All gates will be locked when the grounds are in use by the school. This includes while YWCA Out of Hours School Care and school holiday programs are running.
You will still be able to access your child’s usual drop off and pick up location with no change, before and after school. If you are visiting our school at any other time during the day, please come to the front office first to sign in.
Community access
The following, community access arrangements will be in place.
The community will still be able to access school grounds in the evenings (during summer), on weekends, public holidays and during school holidays - when grounds are not in use by the school or YWCA.
- Weekend and public holiday access will be provided from 8am – 5.30pm (until 8.30pm in summer)
- Weekday and school holiday access will be provided from 6pm – 8.30pm (summer only).
Access will be managed through automatic timers, now installed on some gates, identified by signage. These timers allow the gates to remain closed while being unlocked. They can be opened to get in and out of school grounds during the above times.
The Education Directorate acknowledges that the above access hours are a variation to those advised following the community engagement process last year. These adjustments have been made following consultation with the new Out of School Hours Care provider.
Out of School Hours Care access
The YWCA Canberra has a license agreement to run its Out of School Hours Care and school holiday programs at Aranda Primary School.
This license provides exclusive access to the courtyard, basketball court and adventure playground while the YWCA programs are running.
Except for public holidays, these programs operate between 7.30am-9am and 3pm-6pm during term time, and 8am-6pm during school holidays. School grounds will not be available to community during these times.
When the YWCA programs are not running, community will be able to access the courtyard, basketball court and adventure playground along with the rest of the school grounds.
